Board Governance and Educational Issues

School districts play a vital role in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  As explained in the other sections of this COVID-19 Resource Center, school districts are tasked with providing meals and child care opportunities to the members of their community.  In addition to these responsibilities, Districts must also ensure that its students’ education does not suffer as a result of the statewide school closures.  Therefore, this section is intended to assist districts while they continue to operate an educational program during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Another important aspect in operating an educational program is ensuring your board has an opportunity to meet and take appropriate action.  However, this may prove difficult given the social distancing protocols that are currently in place.  This section also provides legal updates and practical guidance for governing boards so that they can continue to operate in a manner that preserves the health and safety of their respective communities.
