Stephen P. Epstein is the Chair of the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group. He is a highly experienced transactional lawyer whose practice includes property acquisition, disposition and financing of hotels, office buildings, residential multifamily buildings, shopping centers and vacant land, and the representation of developers in connection with transaction structuring and financing. He is also experienced in all issues relating to condominium and cooperative housing.
A substantial portion of Stephen’s practice is dedicated to ground lease transactions, representing both ground lessors and ground lessees, primarily in Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn, for hotel, residential, and charter school purposes. Those transactions have included negotiation and documentation of ground leases, related financing, and the sale/assignment of ground lessees’ interests in such ground leases.

Prior to joining Jaspan Schlesinger Narendran LLP, Stephen was senior vice president and general counsel of Imperial Properties, Inc., a real estate developer. He was also one of the founding members of a New York City law firm that specialized in representing organized tenant groups in buildings undergoing cooperative conversion and real estate litigation.
